What can we do to put an end to toxins in our food supply ?
Toxins in our food supply may seem unavoidable but there are steps you can take to lower your exposure to these toxins. An easy way to avoid these toxins is to eat organic produce and free-range organic food. A popular environmental journalist and bestselling author Michael Pollan once wrote, "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." Most toxins found in food are prevalent in the environment and, once ingested, camp out in fat. These toxins are highly stable and can remain in the human body for decades. So according to Pollan you should try to eat lots of plants but what if you like meat? For those who prefer meat, replace the meat you eat with fish preferably fish that are lower in fat and mercury like halibut and cod. If fish isn't your thing you can take omega-3 supplements. If you absolutely need your beef or pork try to find grass-fed animals these animals are generally leaner than grain-fed animals so they accumulate fewer fat residing toxins.
